Tips on keeping mosquitos away this summer

Summertime means mosquitos! Every summer I’m always covered in mosquito bites. My dad always told me it’s because I’m so sweet.

Here’s some tips on how to keep those annoying insects at bay this summer:

  • Get rid of standing water. Mosquitoes love water. In fact that’s where they lay their eggs. Even as little as a bottlecap full of water is enough to create a breading ground for them. Can’t get rid of all standing water in your yard? Sprinkle some coffee grounds in the area.
  • Use a box fan on high when you’re sitting around. They can’t fly through the “wind”
  • Keep some mosquito repelling plants around: lemon grass, lavender, citronella, basil, catnip, peppermint, rosemary, garlic, sage, etc.
  • Use mosquito repellents. The most effective repellents have DEET or Picardin as ingredients
